'Run 4 Chance' is a non-profit organization that serves to raise awareness and funds for veterans' needs. 'Run 4 Chance' members are friends and family to Marine Corps Lance Corporal Chance R. Phelps, who was killed by enemy insurgents in Iraq on April 9th, 2004. You can learn more about who we are and our efforts here.

This website, The Chance Phelps Foundation, and its sponsored events, do not support any anti-war effort.

It Has Begun!   12 February 2007
Gretchen and Kelley arrived at Twentynine Palms, CA on 11 February, and started their 1,547 mile Walk for Chance early the next morning. Joining them on their initial leg from the Marine Corp base, which LCpl. Chance Phelps once called home, into the empty desert was a small gathering of friends and family.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to those of you who donated gear, water, and temporary shelter in order to get the Walk started. We would not have been able to do this without your support.

The permanent walking team (Gretchen and Kelley) will be sending in regular trip updates from the road, which will be posted here, so check back often. And thanks again to everyone who has supported our cause.

Remember, the Walk for Chance is ongoing! And you can donate at any time. Sponsor any number of the team's 1,547 miles. No donation is too small, and it goes to a great cause: To help our wounded warriors and their families!

Miles to Walk: 1,532
