Day 20   02 March 2007
Gretchen and Kelley are now in Kingman, Arizona. They made about 70 miles this last week. The RV is still acting up a bit, and it required a few more minor repairs. Gretchen's foot is starting to feel better, and so far Kelley hasn't had any strange tweaks or pains. Some friends of the family drove down from Dubois to escort our walkers, thanks guys.

Also, the Patriot Guard Riders are planning to escort Gretchen and Kelley on their Colorado portion of the Walk. The Patriot Guard is a motorcycle group that has "an unwavering respect for those who risk their lives for America's security and Freedom." A like minded group with the noble cause of shielding family members and mourners of the fallen from protester groups (strictly through non-violent means.)

Speaking of like minded individuals, one thing Kelley brought to my attention, as she passed her weekly update over the phone, is the response from people they meet on the road. When they tell people about the Walk, they usually get an uneasy stare, followed by the question, "Is this all part of some war protest?" To which Gretchen and Kelley promptly say, "NO!" This Walk, or any event we conduct or partake in, is in no way a form of protest. In fact, it's quite the opposite. We, as a group, support our troops, their mission, and our Commander-in-Chief's decision to go to war.

When they tell people this, the overwhelming response is a sigh of relief, and, so far, everyone has offered their support and thanks. Good to know that the majority of people out there share our group's philosophy. Judging by what's in the news everyday you'd be forced to think not.
