Believe it or not, Colorado has proven to be the state with the least amount of cell phone coverage and wireless internet service of the girls' walk so far. Calls from the field have been coming in less often than normal and pictures even less than that. But this week, I finally talked to Kelley and also got some pictures from Chris (Chance's Step-mom.)

Last Monday, the girls left Chance's boyhood hometown: Craig, CO. From there, they headed due west to Maybell, CO, and then northwest towards Brown's Park. According to their own calculations, they should be in Rock Springs, WY tomorrow. Since the 30th of April, they've marched over 160 miles.

I've done a little work on the mile count of the girls' walk so far. Instead of adding up miles walked and subtracting from the entire route's mileage (1,547), I recalculated from their end point (Dubois) backwards. I have the girls at 1283 miles as of Rock Springs. (1283 miles! Wow, and I was wondering why all they talk about now is finally getting to sleep in their own beds.) And from there, approximately 220 miles left. This gives a grand total of 1503 miles. It appears we may have been off from our 1547 estimate by about 44 miles. The girls were forced to make some impromptu route changes due to safety and legal concerns, and this has most likely impacted our initial estimate. But, at the end, we will tally our official mileage count and see just how close we came.
